The Day The NFL Jumped The Shark.

I was going to let a fellow blogger and Packer fan Bugsy handle this but no I’ve decided against that. If you’re a fan of the Football, or Sports, or have a Twitter account you know exactly what I am speaking about. And if you don’t, stop living under a rock.

Last night the Green Bay Packers were robbed, I repeat ROBBED on the last play of the game because of the ability or lack thereof to make the correct call by the replacement officials. I’ll paint the picture for you, it was the last play of the game a hail mary was called by Seattle’s rookie QB Russell Wilson, he threw up a prayer and it was intercepted.

The officials couldn’t seem to come to an agreement on if it was a pick, or a touchdown.

The play was ruled a touchdown, reviewed, and subsequently called a touchdown. The Packers proceeded to leave the field but were called back out so Seattle could kick the extra point.

Now today after massive backlash by people on Twitter (myself included), sports analysts, and even the NFL’s own players; the NFL decided to not reverse the decision and stay with what happened last night. Here’s my beef with that, the NFL always preaches “protect the shield” to the players, and enforces it by holding the players accountable for their actions. Shouldn’t officials also be held accountable? They are also employees of the shield. How about owners? Or commissioners? Or the league itself? Yes this post may be a diatribe from a Packers fan, but is what I’ve said wrong?  And the worst part is what happened to Heyward-Bey, the Saints, and the fiasco in the Ravens vs Pats game didn’t get the light of day  that this did.

However, if this is what it takes to get the real refs back I don’t mind being the innocent bystander.
